Delta Education science programs Approved in North Carolina
Full Option Science System and Delta Science Modules lead the way in science adoption
Nashua, NH, December 3, 2004-The North Carolina State Board of Education has selected Delta Education inquiry-based science kits for use over the next six years. Twenty titles were selected for grades K-5, including fourteen Full Option Science System (FOSS®) units and six Delta Science Modules (DSM®). These Delta science programs meet 20 of 24 North Carolina educational standards in science, which is more than any other inquiry-based publishers considered.
"We are very pleased with our selection in North Carolina," noted Steven Korte, President and Chief Operating Officer of Delta Education. "Delta Education is the leading publisher of hands-on, inquiry-based programs. Educators now have access to a proven method of teaching science and top quality materials to support their curriculum."
Dr. Lawrence Lowery, a noted researcher of adolescent brain development and principal investigator of FOSS®, outlines why access to inquiry-based learning materials is so important, "In science education, first-hand sensory experiences, followed by appropriate reading materials improve learning significantly."
FOSS is the leading K-8 inquiry-based elementary science program in the U.S. It was developed under a National Science Foundation grant at the Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS), which has been guiding the development process for over 25 years.
